Our customer Keyhole TIG Limited (K-TIG), an Australian welding technology company, has won the Innovator Award at the DTC Defence Industry Awards 2015.
The Awards, organised annually by the Defence Teaming Centre, are the peak industry event and play a critical role in identifying and acknowledging the contribution of leading companies within the defence community. The Awards Ceremony was attended by Airbus, BAE, Babcock, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Nova, Saab, Raytheon and other defence industry leaders.
The Innovator Award, sponsored by the Australia Government’s Department of Industry & Science, recognises a company who has invested heavily in research and development to produce highly innovative products that have contributed to building the capability of the defence industry in South Australia.
The Innovator Award was heavily contested by an unprecedented number of outstanding nominations, including finalists Saab Australia and Auspace.
K-TIG has developed an ultra-high-speed, full penetration welding technology that welds up to 100x faster than conventional welding in materials up to 16mm in thickness – in one pass.
Extraordinarily, the technology eliminates the need for wire, edge preparation and skilled operators while requiring just 1/20th of the gas and power needed by other welding processes.
As an integral part of the K-TIG welding solution, the controller designed by Don Alan for K-TIG enables automatic recording and storing data about each weld on a remote server for audit and control purposes. This precise quality control is vital to the oil and gas industries and to the defence sector where every element of construction needs to be profiled and precisely audited.
“It’s tremendous to be acknowledged by the defence industry as a leading innovator” said Belinda Latz, K-TIG Operations Manager who accepted the award. “Innovation is literally at the core of what we do, and this award comes at a very exciting time in the development of our company and technology”.
The award to K-TIG is a live testimonial of our mission – “to systematically design and supply electronic assemblies that enable our customers to deliver extra ordinary value. ” Congratulations to K-TIG!
