Getting the product specification right is an essential start to any round of product design. One of the greatest things we can do for a customer is to listen carefully to their requirement, ask questions, make suggestions and use our experience to assist in the development of a detailed specification.
The product specification not only describes what the product does but all of the connections, required standards (ROHS, EMC, C-Tick, A-Tick, FCC, UL, CE, ML and safety), operating environment, mechanical arrangements, and expected life of the product.
The Don Alan Difference
When it comes to settling the specification customers work with our most experienced and skilled engineers – there are no salesman in the middle. These people have the most experience to quickly settle and optimise the specification. Their experience and ability means that the chances of hitting major issues later in the design are greatly reduced. If an area of uncertainty is identified then a small project may be used to resolve the uncertainty before completing the overall specification.
Because we also manufacture, we have likely manufactured a similar product already. This means we can provide realistic unit cost targets at specification time.
